Superintendent Message

As we head into February, I want to take a moment to share an update and extend my thanks for your continued partnership and support of our schools.

One highlight I’m excited to share is the progress we’ve seen with our updated cell phone policy. Thanks to your support and collaboration, the transition has gone smoothly and has truly made a positive impact on our school day. We are seeing students talk with one another more during lunch, build stronger connections with peers, and stay more engaged in their learning throughout the day. These are exactly the outcomes we hoped for when implementing this change.

I want to sincerely thank our families for your help and encouragement as we worked through this process together. Your support reinforces the importance of creating learning environments that prioritize focus, connection, and student well-being.

As always, we appreciate the strong partnership between home and school. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions, feedback, or ideas as we continue working together to support our students.

Jacobson Elementary Celebrates the Power of Reading!

Our Jacobson Elementary community showed up in a BIG way during Book Blast with Books Are Fun! Thanks to the incredible support from families and our community, we were able to help grow students’ at-home libraries—because every child deserves access to great books.

  • 100% of the funds raised went directly back to our students
  • Nearly 1,000 books were put into students’ hands
  • Every single student—whether or not they were able to participate in the fundraiser—went home with at least one book!
  • PLUS—Books Are Fun is gifting Jacobson Elementary over $800 to invest in our classroom libraries!
We are so grateful for the generosity and commitment to literacy shown by our Jacobson families and supporters. Together, we are building a love of reading that will last a lifetime!

Winter Sports Celebration

On January 20, we celebrated Winter Sports Night with an exciting evening of school spirit and community fun. The girls’ and boys’ basketball teams took on Eagle Grove High School, while the prom committee hosted their annual cake auction fundraiser. Coronation was held during halftime, and we congratulate King Juan Medina and Queen Kendra Huedepohl on this special honor.

Student Spotlight

The PBIS committee wanted to recognize students who are exceeding expectations at Jacobson. Teachers will be picking two students from each classroom for the months of February, March, April, and May to be the students of the month!

Winter Reminders

It's currently the time of year when weather impacts our school schedule and we want to share a few important reminders:
  • School closings and delays will be announced through ParentSquare. You’ll receive these notifications by email, text, and in the ParentSquare app.
  • Please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for the weather. Send hats, gloves, snow boots, and warm clothing as needed.
  • If your family is in need of any winter gear, we have some donated items available. Please contact the school counselor or nurse—all requests are handled confidentially.
  • Student safety is always our top priority when making weather-related decisions. Families will be notified as soon as any decisions are made.
Thank you for helping us keep all students safe and warm this winter!

Community Group in ParentSquare

Do you know someone who is a Bronco supporter but does not work for the district or have students attending? Are they still interested in learning about the wonderful things happening at BK? Bronco Trail Guide

Together, we make a difference.
In an effort to strengthen the partnership between our district and our community, we are excited to introduce a new feature—the Bronco Trail Guide. This series of short videos will provide helpful, step-by-step guidance on topics that may impact your ability to engage with our schools efficiently and effectively. By learning and navigating these processes together, we can create a smoother, more connected experience for everyone. Our Spanish speaking families should be able to turn on translation for the videos. (Please forgive my video making skills)
